EDSA Revolution Anniversary

February 25, 1986 was just an ordinary day for me. As a first year high school student, I was not that politically aware of what was going on with our country. I won’t go into the details of the events that led to the EDSA revolution but as a high school student at that time, I did not believe the EDSA revolution was the solution to the problem in the country, especially when Marcos was ousted and Cory Aquino was appointed as her replacement. A plain housewife to rule our country? What were the Filipinos thinking way back then?

Twenty two years later, after Fidel Ramos (the president who loves to travel every now and then), Joseph Estrada (the actor elected to presidency by showbiz fanatics), and Gloria Arroyo (the president who got into power by another people power against Estrada) governed this country, nothing has changed. In fact, Gloria Arroyo, an economist whom Filipinos trusted to be the one who would deliver the country out of poverty, is proving to be the worst president ever.

Two sons getting married while she is in power, her husband getting involved in scams, and several failed coup attempts on her government, are just a few of the things that really dismayed me. The very controversial ZTE scandal is another proof of how dirty her government has become. It’s a pity that politicians look at politics as a chance to get rich and fill their bank accounts with money rather than serving the people.

With all these things happening to my country, I am still hopeful that one day we will have a government that is really for the people, of the people and by the people. A president who will look into reducing the debts of our country and a president who will not be tempted with the power and money that goes along with that powerful position in government. I am one of the many Filipinos who are hoping that the senate inquiry on the ZTE deal will bring a positive result and that the guilty parties be punished. I hope all the proper evidence would be shown and there would be no cover ups. I am not looking for another people power now… All I want is for people to realize that there are rotten tomatoes that need to be removed from our government.

Hard Work plus Dedication Equals Reward$

I finally got the bonus that my client promised me last January. It took a while before he was able to send it.. but it was worth the wait. He promised to give me $200 but when he transferred the fund thru paypal yesterday, he sent me $250. Even if the dollar rate went down from 41 to barely 40 pesos, I am really happy with the P9,698 that i got from my client. When you work hard and you get rewards, you are just inspired to work harder. Hmmm.... part of the bonus will of course go to my savings.. and the rest? secretttt... hahahaha! Read full post...

Very Busy Weekend

My body is aching but it is my arms that hurt the most... Me and my officemates Lyra, Raquel, Mylene, Gemini, Jocel, Molit and Joel played badminton after work yesterday. We needed some exercise and we thought that playing badminton would be a good way to exercise since our daily routine of work-sleep-work deprives us from getting our bodies to sweat(and we are now planning to do this on a weekly basis). We proceeded to smash and drop near AMA computer college in San Pedro extension. We played for only an hour but we were all sweating profusely. After playing, we ate some mami at bankerohan (courtesy of Jocel.. or was it her mom? hahahaha! basta ni libre kami.. thanks Jocel!). I got home past 11am already and was able to go to sleep at 12noon, but had to wake up 4pm to prepare for out planned beach outing at samal.

It was raining at it was a very very cold night.. good thing I had my jacket and my shawl with me... We spent the night at Aloha Beach resort in Babak Samal, just a walking distance from the port where the barge docks.

We went home at around 7am.. but I could not get some rest coz I still have to do my laundry. I was only able to sleep for about an hour after doing my laundry and I had to wake up again to eat lunch and go to the grocery with my mom. I was only able to go back to sleep at 5pm but my mother woke me up again at 8:30pm just to let me eat dinner.. waaahhhhhh.... It's now 11pm and im chatting while blogging.. just killing some time.. I am now feeling tired and sleepy.. time to doze off again..Zzzzzz...

*I am just amazed at the traffic that my blog has been getting lately just because of the post that i made about that Funny UST scandal virus. Read full post...
